Tyrus Books
TYRUSbenTyrus Books publishes crime fiction: stories dealing with crime and its repercussions. We want not only an affecting story and honest characters, but also lyrical writing and attention to craft. We are not interested in ticking time bomb thrillers, elaborate kidnapping plots, or anything else that would require a large special effects budget if it were to be turned into a movie.

Before starting Tyrus Books in the summer of 2009, the principles behind Tyrus ran Bleak House Books. Novels published by Bleak House and Tyrus have been nominated for and/or won most of the major awards in crime fiction including the Edgar, the Shamus, the Anthony, and the Barry. Other accolades include Lambda Award nominations, a Florida Book Award, and a Southern California Independent Booksellers Association nomination.

Weaving Dreams Publishing
WDPlogocroppedglamourangel1smallLike many small publishers, L Sue Durkin began this venture with the sole intention of publishing her own work. Her plan evolved in December of 2008 when she accepted a manuscript submitted by another author. At that time, the name Weaving Dreams Publishing truly began fulfilling its mission statement by allowing writers to weave their dreams through writing.

With that book release, in November of 2009, a landslide of submissions poured into Weaving Dreams Publishing's offices. Today, L Sue Durkin and Weaving Dreams Publishing have a stable of authors, which is rapidly growing, along with editors, artists, and consultants to the staff.

Marie Pacha, one of Weaving Dreams authors, comments, Sue is the consummate professional. She politely insists we follow the process from submission to final proof with total commitment; not just for the company's sake, but to help us achieve success. Working with Sue has made me a much better writer, and I am proud to be associated with her company.

Aside from Sue's work with the company, she mentors a young writers' group, works with an adult critique group, teaches classes and gives presentations on "Writing to Get Published" and "Publishing Do's and Don'ts", and keeps her hand in writing non-fiction, romance, and mysteries.
